Are you feeling concerned about your students’ well being during this pandemic? Are you ready to learn how to better support youth and adults who have been experiencing too much stress? Great news – my summer 2020 level I and level II trauma-sensitive schools professional development courses will be online, and I would love to have you join us.
Whether teaching and learning is on site, online, or a combination of the two in the fall, every educator needs to understand how trauma impacts attendance, behavior, and learning, but we can’t stop there. Educators must also learn what to do about these stress responses so that every student can be successful through a school-wide, trauma-informed approach. That’s exactly what you will learn in this two-day training.
In the first day (level I), you will learn what developmental trauma is and how it impacts students. You will also start developing a trauma-sensitive mindset so that you can begin to use the four essentials and trauma-sensitive discipline practices to approach all students in ways that help them feel safe, be connected, get regulated, and learn. In the second day (level II), we will go deeper into exploring how to utilize trauma-informed RTI to meet the needs of your students, including those who have experienced trauma. You will create an action plan and be ready to create change when school resumes.
Would you like some extra good news? Fees are discounted, and Iowa educators can choose to pursue licensure renewal credit for this course. Learn more and register here. Email me at MsJenAlexander@gmail.com for information about how to pursue the credit option.
While I’m disappointed that we can’t be face-to-face to learn together right now, I’m delighted that anyone can join us from anywhere. If you’re interested in learning how I could bring a trauma-sensitive schools training to your school district, organization, or conference (whether virtually or face-to-face), reach out by email. I would be delighted to bring this PD or a different learning opportunity to you. Consultation and coaching are available as well. Let’s build trauma-sensitive schools and explore how to be well while doing it!
